The first incident was a viral social media post by Facebook user Ray Andres, who threatened to bring a gun to school, and said students should “be prepared to hear shots.” A second post by the user, who claimed he wouldn’t be revealing his — or her — real name, said, “Yes, SHS is the school I want.”

Show Low Unified School District and Show Low Police Department received several calls and police quickly determined the ambiguous post was circulating nationwide. SLPD reported it had contacted the Springfield (Ohio) Police Department, who was working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Clark County (Ohio) Sherriff’s Office arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with the threat. The district notified parents via email and its social media, and schools performed a normal schedule all week.

On Thursday, Blue Ridge Unified School District parents were notified of a report of a gun on an elementary school bus, causing all three district schools to go into a “hard lockdown.” Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department conducted a search of district buses and schools, which resulted in no guns being found. The district emailed parents updates throughout the lockdown.
